The highly anticipated Ferrari F2001b is headed to auction at RM Sotheby's in California. The car was driven by none other than the German F1 legend Michael Schumacher in 2002 during his World Championship-winning season.
The Michael Schumacher Collection

Other interesting items are F1 racing suits, as well as racing gloves and shoes that have been worn by Schumacher. Overall, the lots are estimated to sell for a combined sum of $1.5 million.

The Ferrari F2003
Presented as "One of the most significant Formula One Cars of all time", the Ferrari F2003 that Michael Schumacher drove while winning his sixth World Championship title in 2003 hit the auction block less than a year ago. The $16.7 million hammer price was nearly double the low estimate – not surprising given the car's historical significance. The Ferrari F2003 is by far the most valuable Michael Schumacher memorabilia – but time will tell how long the record will last.

The Most Expensive F1 Car Ever To Be Sold
According to reports, producing an F1 car costs roughly $15 million. The after-market price tag, however, isn't near that amount. The majority of all F1 cars have a value of a few hundred thousand dollars. There are, nonetheless, a couple of F1 cars that have been sold in the millions. The most expensive F1 car ever to be sold was during an auction in 2013, when Bonhams sold a 1954 Mercedes W196R for a whopping $24.8 million. The car was driven by the Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio in 1954, a year in which he won the F1 World championship. To date, the Mercedes W196R is the fifth most expensive car (all categories included) ever to be sold.
