Here are six superstar Ferraris not to miss at the auction:
1951 Ferrari 342 America Coupe (Estimate: $900,000-$1,200,000)
Beginning in the 1950s, Ferrari decided to build a series of cars targeted to the American buyer, called the Ferrari America. The second iteration was the Ferrari 342, designed with the elegance and luxury of a grand tourer with the even-number chassis numbers of a race car. This Ferrari 342 is the first of just seven built in the early 1950s and boasts an impressive provenance: it was displayed at the Paris and London Motor Shows in 1951, and it has been owned by a number of top car collectors worldwide. Offered without reserve, this Ferrari will now make its auction debut in unrestored condition, paving the way for its next owner to usher this historic treasure into its new chapter.
1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso (Estimate: $1,600,000-$1,800,000)
The Ferrari 250 GT Lusso marked a significant development in the world of Ferrari, as the prestigious manufacturer turned its attention towards developing luxurious grand tourers that combined the heart of a race car with supreme comfort. In fact, “lusso” is the Italian word for luxury. There were just 350 GT Lussos designed as the last iteration of the GT 250 series, and they are renowned for their stylish design and spacious interiors. This particular Lusso has just undergone a meticulous three-year renovation, returning its interior and exterior to its original grandeur, such as its rare and refined Grigio Fumo (Smoke Grey) coat.
1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona (Estimate: $750,000-$850,000)
Referred to as the Daytona because of Ferrari’s dominance in the 1967 Hours of Daytona race, the Ferrari 365 introduced a sleek new look upon its launch in 1968. With clean lines and a long bonnet enclosing its powerful 4.4-liter V-12 engine, this Ferrari 365 GTB/4 was famed for its speed and style. In fact, it launched as the fastest production car in the world, reaching speeds of 176 miles per hour in 1969. This particular model, fully restored with an eye-catching Blu Dino Metallizzato, has also been exhibited and won multiple awards under its past owners.
1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (Estimate: $2,900,000-$3,300,000)
The precursor to the Daytona was the 275 GTB, which was first produced in 1964. The 275 GTB/4, which made its debut in Paris in 1966, offered an even more sophisticated design with independent suspension, 5-speed manual transaxle, and an enhanced Tipo 226 V-12 engine. Just 330 of the 275 GTB/4 autos were built between 1966 and 1968, and this model still sports its original color scheme, with its elegant Grigio Argento exterior and black leather interior. Cosmetic and mechanical restoration have returned this car to its original grandeur, and it was Ferrari Classiche certified by its owner prior to the current consignor.
1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider (Estimate: $16,000,000-$18,000,000)
In the late 1950s, the Ferrari 250 GT California Spider was designed specifically for the American market with its open design, luxe finishes, and racing spirit. By 1960, the original model was upgraded with a short-wheelbase (SWB) platform for a more nimble and stable ride on the track. This 1960 model is an extraordinary exemplar of the California Spider with a custom-made hardtop and rare covered headlights. The car came to the United States in 1964 and was later acquired by notable California collector Ronald Van Kregten in 1976. For over 30 years, the car remained there, until it was discovered and sold at auction by Gooding & Company in 2009. The new owner oversaw a complete restoration, repainting it in a Scaglietti metallic navy shade. Now unveiled in its new splendor and Ferrari Classiche certified, this legendary California Spider is poised to be a collector’s ultimate centerpiece given its historic significance, undeniable elegance, and pioneering design.
1964 Ferrari 275/330 GTC Prototipo (Estimate: $650,000-$800,000)
This Ferrari 275/330, chassis 06431, holds a unique position in Ferrari history as it showcases a transformation in the Ferrari design from the 275 era to the 330 era. This was the pre-production prototype of the 330 GTC, a visionary new GT coupe introduced in 1966. Due to its prototype status, chassis 06431 retained elements of the Ferrari’s earlier 275 design combined with the engine that powered and came to define the 330. This early prototype was inspected by Enzo Ferrari and later rebuilt in true 330 fashion with its four-liter Tipo 209 SOHC V-12 engine. However, identifiers of its 275 history still remain, from the curved hood to the dashboard layout. Sporting the classic Ferrari red color and a black leather interior, this car is not only an emblem of classic Ferrari style, but also a pivotal marker of its design history.
