Yvon Coté Rooster

Grande-Vallée, Québec. C. 1980. Unlike Coté’s more naturalistic songbirds and birds of prey, the rooster allowed the artist greater freedom for exaggeration and personality. This particular rooster is enlivened by a palette of rich golden-brown and ochre tones across the breast, transitioning into deep charcoal-grey tail feathers accented with brilliant flashes of emerald green and dark teal. Marked, "YC", on base.
