In-12, contemporary bottle-green half-maroquin binding, smooth spine richly decorated with gilt fillets and gilt metalwork, marbled paper covers. An official publication of the prestigious Bureau des Longitudes, this almanac is one of the most widely distributed scientific works of the first half of the 19th century. Intended for astronomers, navigators, hydrographers, and engineers, it compiles the astronomical ephemerides essential for maritime navigation, as well as a multitude of scientific, geographical, meteorological, and economic tables. The 1826 edition notably contains annual astronomical calculations, planetary motions, nautical tables, tide times, international currency conversions, as well as various scientific and historical notes reflecting the state of knowledge during the Restoration. The interior is complete and well-preserved despite a few scattered foxing spots and slight browning of the paper. The binding is sturdy, with moderate wear on the head and foot caps and the joints. The original bookmark is preserved.
