The edition number applies to the painted finish by the artist and not to the base object, the jerrycan. Uniquely painted, no stickers for a uniform result and better longevity. Born in 1978 in the heart of France, XTC has shaped his artistic universe through an interest in Design, Pop Art, and more recently Street Art. This visual exploration has evolved into a passion that had to be realized. XTC defines himself as a self-taught visual artist, aligning with the Pop Art movement through the subversion of contemporary consumer goods. His creativity expresses itself through bold staging of icons of popular consumption (such as McDonald’s, Malabar, Chupa), which he makes clash with the world of luxury (including Chanel, Hermès, Veuve Clicquot champagne, or caviar) and Street Art, further blurring the already thin boundaries between these worlds. He expresses his art through sculpture, blending painting with all kinds of resins, plastics, and sometimes minerals. He draws inspiration, among others, from Banksy, Keith Haring, Orlinski, Andy Warhol, Obey, and advertising and addictions in general.
