For sale is a particularly massive, authentic gold ring from the former Soviet Union – a real piece of history. It probably dates from the 1970s (around 1971) and, due to its high weight, is not only a striking piece of jewelry but also a solid tangible asset. Details of the ring: Material: 958 gold (23 karat) – the rare, high-quality and very gold-rich Soviet alloy. Weight: approx. 7.56 grams (solid construction). Inner diameter: approx. 20.7 mm (equivalent to ring size 65/66). Width: approx. 8 mm. Origin: USSR, manufactured probably around 1971 in the Leningrad Jewelry Factory or Alma-Ata (information without guarantee, inferred from the maker’s mark). Engravings / Stamp: Fineness stamp: State Soviet fineness mark with star (hammer & sickle) as well as the engraving “958” for 23 karat gold. Maker hallmark (Imennik): Probably “.1АЮ” or “.1ЛЮ” (1971, Soviet jewelry factory). (as mentioned above, this information is without guarantee) The ring shows the authentic wear typical for its age, underscoring the character of this vintage piece. It has been valued as an engagement ring and impresses with a heavy solidity that is hardly found in modern jewelry. Pure fineness gold content: approx. 7.24 grams of fine gold (95.8% of 7.56 g).
