Wasmuel - SG - Pitcher - Ceramic - Art Nouveau Pitcher

This slipware jug, or maiolica, was made in Belgium. Slipware is a type of Belgian maiolica characterized by its applied designs. This jug is one of the most beautiful pieces we have had. A cartouche on a light turquoise ground with speckled painting surrounds a classical portrait. The portrait, presumably of a Roman figure, is framed by a garland of flowers and vines. The inside of the jug has a blueberry-pink tone. This piece is in perfect condition. On the base it bears the article number and the SG seal. The slipware or maiolica jug was manufactured in Belgium. Slipware is a Belgian variant of maiolica.
