Additionally, it is characterized by Cuprite crystals of notable size in a dark red color with violet reflections, in splendid contrast with the bright green Malachite crusts and the blue-green patinas of Chrysocolla that cover the matrix, elements that increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Cuprite is a copper oxide (Cu2O) that forms in the oxidation zones of copper-bearing deposits, where the combined action of water and oxygen transforms primary sulfides into secondary minerals; its characteristic dark red color, sometimes with purple reflections, depends on the oxidation state of copper. Malachite and Chrysocolla form in the same geochemical environment, often right next to Cuprite, generating splendid color contrasts between the green of the carbonates and the blue of the copper silicates. The Katanga region, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is one of the world's most important areas for the production of secondary copper minerals, thanks to its extensive and rich copper ore deposits.
