USA - American paratrooper compass Airborne WW2 - Military equipment - 1945

Magnificent original World War II specimen of the famous American wrist-worn compass, officially named Compass, Wrist, Liquid-Filled. Made by Taylor (Rochester, N.Y.), it bears the date 1-45 on the side. It comes with its original webbing strap, which is quite rare: most specimens today have a replacement leather strap. This compass was particularly prized by paratroopers (82nd and 101st Airborne). It was worn on the wrist, over the sleeve of the jump jacket, on the suspenders, or even on the ankle over jump boots. Unlike the lensatic compass, it was issued to both officers and enlisted men.
