All automatic watches must be wound initially using the crown as well, since wrist movement alone is not enough to maintain the required power reserve. It is recommended to set the date with the crown when the time is between 03:05 and 20:55. (Some models have a screw-down crown; for settings you need to gently unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Remember to securely screw the crown back after adjusting.)
