Technique: Original Japanese woodblock print. Title: "Tornado" Artist: Hajime NAMIKI 並木一 (1947-) Limited 253/500, in 2005 Japan Hand signed in pencil with artist’s read seal. A blue dragon against a silver background with a slight gold gradient, with swirls depicted behind the dragon. Dragons are considered spiritual creatures that control clouds and rain. The blue dragon is regarded as a symbol of growth and development. Conditions: excellent conditions, minor defects on the margin. Dimensions: Paper size: 290 x 295 mm Image size: 225 x 225 mm A Contemporary Master - Hajime Namiki born in 1947 in Tokyo. Although originally trained as sculptor, he began making woodblock prints in 1978. He carves his own blocks and prints each work using traditional methods. These beautiful prints are printed on a gold or silver leaf laid over Torinoko paper. Namiki also use oil-based paints rather than the more common use of watercolours.
