In this original, Disney artist Tony Fernandez gives his navy coat, white cap and sideburns to Donald Duck. Hands in his pockets, his scarf flowing in the wind and a thin cigarette at the corner of his beak, Donald strolls along a deserted beach with the calm, detached air of a true gentleman of fortune. Seagulls glide overhead, and one, standing in the sand, watches him go with a sceptical eye. Painted in acrylic on art paper with a fresh, loose touch, the piece pays tribute to Pratt's graphic elegance, with its essential lines, bold blacks and luminous Mediterranean colours, while keeping all of Donald's unmistakable personality. A brilliant meeting between Disney and one of the great masters of European comic art. ▸ Acrylic on art paper ▸ Sheet: 39 x 29 cm (unframed) Tony Fernandez is a veteran Disney artist who has been drawing Disney's most beloved characters for more than 35 years and continues to work for Disney in Europe today.
