Created in Italy in 1969 by Guido Martina and Giovan Battista Carpi, Paperinik, known in English as the Duck Avenger, is Donald's secret masked identity: a justice-seeking hero who has become one of the most beloved characters in European Disney comics. In this dynamic image by veteran Disney artist Tony Fernandez, the Duck Avenger stands high above the streets of New York, his cape flowing in the wind, surrounded by vertiginous skyscrapers. The dramatic perspective and the bold black, white and yellow palette give the scene the power of a classic superhero comic cover.
