全部拍賣 / Miscellaneous / Themed collection - marine chronometer - Pontifa
Pontifa – Cardanic Marine Desk Clock / Ship’s Clock – Brass & Mahogany – Switzerland For sale is an elegant and rare cardanic gimbal-mounted marine desk clock from the renowned Swiss heritage brand Pontifa (Swiss Made). This clock is crafted in the classic style of a marine chronometer. The heavy, high-gloss polished brass case is mounted in a so-called cardanic suspension. This construction was historically used on ships to keep the time perfectly level at sea despite the swaying. The case is mounted in an elegant square box made of mahogany wood. The dial is traditionally white and features fine Roman numerals as well as a detailed outer minute scale. The hands in the Breguet style emphasize the maritime vintage look. Unlike the maintenance-intensive mechanical models, this version is equipped with a reliable and extremely accurate Swiss quartz movement (battery-powered), making it a perfect and hassle-free decorative object for everyday use. Details at a glance: Brand: Pontifa Origin: Switzerland (Swiss Made) Case: Solid brass, cardanically mounted Casing/Box: Elegant mahogany wood case Movement: Swiss precision quartz movement (battery) Dial: White with Roman numerals A beautiful collectible and an absolute eye-catcher for lovers of maritime antiques, the office, or a stylish living room.
