Vintage English Holy Bible (King James Version / Authorized Version) with the Old and New Testament, published by the renowned Collins' Clear-Type Press (London/New York/Glasgow). The Bible is equipped with an breathtaking, fully handmade cover of beautifully glossy mother of pearl (Mother of Pearl) and abalone. The front displays a refined openwork pattern with a geometric star and the deeply etched place name "Jerusalem". The sides show refined floral and ornamental relief details. The interior contains various atmospheric full-page illustrations of holy places, including the Via Dolorosa and the Mount of Olives. Splendid and very complete religious collectible object. Unique to this lot: This item is exceptionally well preserved. The set is delivered including: - A storage case covered with colorful motifs. - The original handwritten 'Certificate of Authenticity' from the famous souvenir shop Santa Maria Souvenirs (David Joseph Fatho) at Casa Nova Road in the old city of Jerusalem, dated 28-03-1986. - The original green business card of the shopkeeper. Condition: Cover: In excellent vintage condition. The delicate mother-of-pearl inlay is perfectly intact (no large missing parts as often the case with this type of Bible). Interior: Clean, tight and very readable. No loose pages or heavy stains. Case/Certificate: Light signs of aging consistent with the age (see photos).
