全部拍賣 / Miscellaneous / The five human races (German classroom chart from 1911)
This is the historical educational chart “Die fünf Menschenrassen” (The Five Races) from 1911, designed by G. Ellka and published by C.C. Meinhold und Söhne in Dresden, Germany. The chromolithographic poster shows the theory of humanity divided into five distinct “races” (Native American, Indigenous Australian, European/Caucasian, African and Asian). The European man is depicted as the largest figure in the center, reflecting the Eurocentric and hierarchical worldview of the early twentieth century. This kind of chart was formerly considered neutral teaching material in education, but is now viewed as an outdated and colonial product in which race theories were propagated.
