Collier Croix des Templars – Obsidian – Heritage of the Crusaders – Sacred Knighthood. A necklace in obsidian bearing the Great Cross of the Templars marked with the seal of the Knights of Christ, a badge of bravery forged to raise a protective barrier against all adversity. At the dawn of the 12th century, on the perilous routes of the Holy Land where ambushes and pillagers lie in wait, a handful of knights swore to devote their existence to defending travelers and the most vulnerable. Under the leadership of Hugues de Payns, the Order of the Temple was born, a brotherhood of monk-soldiers whose iron discipline and valor forged one of the most respected legends of Western medieval times. At the heart of this cross stands the insignia of the Order’s authority: the circle bearing the Latin sentence Sigillum Militum Xpisti, the sacred seal of the Knights of Christ. In its center shines the red pattee cross, standard granted by the papacy to seal courage in battle and fidelity to duty. The medieval interlacings that adorn each arm weave the continuity of a vow that neither time nor trial can alter. Wearing this cross of honor is to claim the rigor and determination of sacred knighthood: a fortress of justice and moral rectitude to face the world’s challenges and repel any hostility. Dimensions: - necklace length: 53.5 cm. - weight: 39.4 g. - beads: 0.6 cm (approx). - ornate gold-plated metal pendant: 5.6 x 3.3 cm. - Spring clasp stamped Gold filled 14K. Mounted on a Japanese steel wire coated with nylon. - Necklace carefully handmade. History & Secrets of the Symbol: The Order of the Temple and the Sigillum Militum Christi Founded in 1119 in Jerusalem, the Order of the Poor Knights of Christ’s mission was to secure the sacred ways. The Latin motto Sigillum Militum Xpisti authenticates official acts and the banners of commanderies, becoming the historical witness of a protective vocation without compromise. The Red Pattée Cross: The Standard of Devotion Granted to the Templars in 1147 by Pope Eugene III, the red cross with flared arms was worn on white tunics as a sign of total bravery. In Christian and knightly symbolism, this mark recalls the strength of soul required to defend justice and triumph over oppression. The Sacred Interlaces: The Knot of Brotherhood and Constancy The interlaced motifs engraved on the cross arms are inspired by medieval sacred arts. Without beginning or end, these continuous knots represent unwavering solidarity among brothers-in-arms, perseverance in the face of obstacles, and vigilance that never falters. The Obsidian: The Mineral Shield and Spiritual Defense Recognized in protective traditions as a major defensive stone, obsidian acts as a barrier against harmful influences, envy and heavy atmospheres. Renowned for cutting through doubts, it fosters exemplary composure and supports the moral uprightness of its wearer before every trial. The shots were taken under LED lighting using dedicated photographic equipment to faithfully reproduce the details, reliefs and nuances of the object. Some precious and semi-precious stones may be subjected to traditional treatments to enhance their color or transparency. No gemological examination was performed on this specimen.
