This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable, natural materials. The way it is knotted and the variety of patterns make this rug a unique piece and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character. It is an excellent used rug with an extremely long lifespan. This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid out as is. A special & beloved rug, very finely knotted, a top piece. Hand-knotted in Turkmenistan, by the Teke tribe(s). Comparable to the better-known Yomut, but even more exclusive. This Teke tribe did not knot rugs as often as the larger Yomut tribes. Thus rarer and full of stories, open to personal interpretation. A fantastic rug made of 100% wool, hand-knotted somewhere between 1930 and 1950 and still in unusually good condition for its age.
