Impressive Group of Bank of Taiwan Specimens from the 1940s. (t) CHINA--TAIWAN. Lot of (16). Bank of Taiwan. 50, 100, 500, 1000, & 10,000 Yuan, 1946-48. P-1938s to 1945s. Front & Back Specimens. Mixed Grades. An impressive partial set of specimens from the 1946 to 1949 series, from the 50 Yuan to the 10,000 Yuan. There are eight uniface obverse and reverse pairs, with five pairs printed by the Central Printing Factory and three pairs (100, 1000 and 10,000 Yuan) printed by the First Printing Factory. Missing only the 1, 5 and 10 Yuan specimens. All 16 individual pieces have been mounted on an autograph album contemporaneous to the age of the notes. Whether this was done intentionally during the post war chaotic period remains unknown. The pages contain annotations indicating which printing factory produced them. Specimens from this era are extremely rare, and despite extensive online searches, the cataloguer cannot find any meaningful past records of any being sold, let alone as a near complete group. Mixed, raw condition as clearly shown in the images. Sold as seen, no returns and viewing highly recommended.
