(t) CHINA--EMPIRE. Board of Revenue. 1 Tael, 1853 (Yr. 3). P-A9a. PCGS Currency Extremely Fine 40 Apparent. Minor Mounting Remnants on Back. Gong prefix serial number 29643. Vertical format, blue woodblock printing on white paper, dragon and cloud border, various large size red handstamps. Clear reverse. An extremely rare and sought after first year of issue that looks slightly different to the One Tael notes issued in later years. The Gong prefix indicates that it was intended to circulate in the provinces, but given the lack of brush pen annotations and handstamps, as well as the absence of any provincial place names on the obverse, there is a possibility that this note is a remainder, rather than a fully issued note. A crowning piece in any collection of Hu Bu Guan Piao with immense interest expected on the day of the live auction. PCGS Currency Comments "Minor Mounting Remnants on Back." Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000. 咸豐叁年戶部官票壹兩。 "宮"字軌，編號29643。豎式，白紙藍墨木刻版印，飾龍雲邊框，鈐多方大型紅色手工印章。背面空白。極其罕見且廣受追捧之首年發行版，與後期發行之壹兩鈔票外觀略異。"宮"字軌示其原擬於各省流通，然觀其欠缺毛筆批註與手工蓋印，且正面未見任何省份地名，本品或屬庫存票，而非正式發行票。此乃任何戶部官票收藏中之頂級珍品，預料拍賣當日必成焦點。PCGS Currency備註"背面有輕微黏貼痕跡"。 (t) This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States.
