Stunning Vintage Ring with Blue Zircon and Brilliant-Cut Diamonds

Electricity, that mysterious, wondrous force of nature that took the world by storm at the beginning of the 20th century, is invisible. And yet it has a colour—at least in our shared, culturally shaped memory: electricity is blue. It is a bright blue, like the light of a flash of lightning, which first entered the world of fashion as “bleu électrique” and continues to shape our imagination to this day. During the Art Deco era, this concept also found its way into the world of jewellery. That era, which was dedicated like no other to modernity and progress in all its facets—such as skyscrapers, automobiles, and electric light—also loved jewellery in cool, radiant, electrifying colours. Thus, technical innovation in those years gave rise to the “Starlit” zircon: when heated, the unassuming, reddish-brown zircon transforms into a radiant blue zircon. This ring is dedicated to this special gemstone. A large zircon weighing more than three carats adorns the center of the ring. The white gold ring holds the zircon in six prongs. To the right and left, it is flanked by a total of 18 diamonds set on the ring shoulders, which taper toward the ring band. The ring came to us from London; it was also crafted in England.
