Statue, Naar C

After C. Coenrad / Johan Coenraad Altorf – stylized Art Deco owl – bronze-colored iron – 25 cm A particularly decorative sculpture of an owl, executed in a bold geometric Art Deco style. The angular lines, large concentric eyes, and strongly stylized body shape give the sculpture a striking modernist appearance. The design is after C. Coenrad; he is the Dutch sculptor Johan Coenraad Altorf (1876–1955). This is a later decorative rendition and is explicitly not offered as an original piece by Altorf. The owl is made of heavy iron and finished with a dark bronze-colored patina. Warm golden-brown accents emphasize the geometric shapes and give the surface a nicely aged character. The sculpture stands firmly on an integrated square base. With a weight of approximately 2.3 kilograms, it feels particularly sturdy and solid. An attractive collectible for lovers of owls, Art Deco, the Amsterdam School, Dutch sculpture, and modernist animal figures. Because of its slender form, the sculpture is very suitable for placement on a desk, sideboard, bookshelf, or in a display cabinet. **Dimensions** * Height: approximately 25 cm * Width: approximately 7 cm * Depth: approximately 7 cm * Weight: approximately 2.3 kg **Material** Bronze-colored patinated iron. **Attribution** After C.
