SPIROU - Journal Album, No. 55 - Lot 231

SPIROU - Journal Album, No. 55 Dupuis, October 1955. Large quarto hardcover, red cloth spine, front cover illustrated in color. A rare and sought-after vintage collection of *Le Journal Spirou*, corresponding to issue No. 55 of the famous series of hardcover albums published by Dupuis. This volume brings together issues No. 912 through 924, covering the period from October 6 to December 29, 1955, and represents one of the most prolific periods in the magazine’s history. It offers a remarkable overview of Franco-Belgian comics from the 1950s, featuring the leading artists of the Marcinelle school and the publisher’s iconic series: Franquin, Morris, Peyo, Jijé, Will, Paape, among others. The particularly decorative cover depicts a locomotive speeding across a railroad crossing—a scene that was highly emblematic of Spirou covers from that era. This volume is sought after by collectors of pre-1960 Dupuis anthologies, fans of classic Franquin/Spirou, and bibliophiles specializing in postwar Belgian comics. The legal deposit record is clearly dated October 1955.
