Sony DSC-F707 with Carl Zeiss Lens - Digital camera

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F707 – Vintage 5-Megapixel Digital Still Camera with Carl Zeiss Lens – Made in Japan – Introduced 2001 Offered here is the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F707, a distinctive Japanese-made digital camera from the early 2000s. Its silver finish, prominent Carl Zeiss lens and swivelling body make it a memorable example of Sony’s experimental approach to digital-camera design. Introduced in 2001 as a flagship Cyber-shot model, the DSC-F707 combined a 5-megapixel CCD sensor with a bright zoom lens and extensive photographic controls. Sony announced the camera in August 2001, with Japanese sales beginning that October. This camera is offered without a battery or charger, with the lens cap and fitted filter shown in the photographs. Historical Background: The DSC-F707 reflects a period when manufacturers were exploring new shapes and controls for digital photography. Its rotating construction allowed photographers to change the shooting angle while keeping the screen and controls accessible. Among its unusual innovations was Hologram AF, which projected a laser pattern to assist focusing in difficult lighting. NightFraming used infrared illumination to help compose a photograph in darkness before capturing a conventional flash-lit colour image. These features demonstrate Sony’s ambition to make low-light photography more accessible. Sony’s launch documentation Condition & Included Items: This Sony DSC-F707 is presented in very good overall cosmetic condition for its age, with visible signs of use that should be assessed carefully from the photographs. The silver casing shows scattered marks, scratches and localised finish wear, particularly around the edges, controls and underside. The rear screen surface shows noticeable marks and smudging, while the strap’s trim shows cracking and age-related wear. The branding and main control markings remain legible. No battery or charger is included. No memory card or additional accessories are specified as included. The camera’s operational condition has not been confirmed; this description makes no claim that it has been tested or is working. Please examine all photographs carefully, particularly the casing, rear screen, viewfinder, lens assembly and strap. They form an integral part of the description and show the items included in the sale. Collector Interest: With its sculptural silver body, swivelling construction and Carl Zeiss optics, the DSC-F707 is an appealing example of early digital-camera design. An interesting addition to a collection of vintage Sony equipment, Cyber-shot cameras or photographic technology from the transition to digital imaging.
