This specific type is known among collectors as Model 12 (also called 'New Family') and is recognizable by the characteristic gracefully curved base plate, also known as the 'Fiddlebase'. The machine is finished in glossy black cast iron and features the original copper Singer emblem. The authentic gold-colored floral motifs (decals) and the woodwork show the unmistakable, charming patina appropriate for an item over 140 years old.
