Sigma L2 – Z187 – Pair of large brass and Swarovski crystal wall lamps – Hollywood Regency – Italy Description Important and elegant pair of large Italian lamps Sigma L2, model Z187, made in Florence and characterized by a refined combination of highly polished brass, large faceted Swarovski crystal elements and ivory-colored shades. The authenticity of the pair and the identification of the model Z187 were confirmed directly by the parent company Sigma L2 via email. The overall height measured is 47 cm, corresponding to the documented size for the model. The specimens offered belong to the production with Swarovski crystals, used by the manufacturer at the time of their creation. The Z187 model is still produced by Sigma L2, but current production no longer uses Swarovski crystals: a detail that distinguishes this pair from contemporary versions. Sigma L2 is a Florentine manufacturer founded in the 1960s by Paolo and Gianna Granchi and specialized in high-end Italian lighting and home accessories. The house is known for a production strongly linked to Florentine artisanal tradition and for the use of precious materials such as brass, crystal, glass, marble, ceramic and fabrics. These wall lamps present a particularly dramatic composition. From the large oval brass plate, highly polished, develops a significant curved arm, almost horn-shaped, projecting the light outward. The structure of each lamp is enriched by two large transparent, faceted Swarovski crystal elements, about 6 cm in diameter, placed at the base and at the top of the arm respectively. The geometric cut of the crystal catches and refracts light, creating elegant reflections and a refined contrast with the extremely brilliant surface of the brass. At the top, a large flared cup supports the light source and the original ivory-creme trunk-conical shade with a golden edge, which completes the composition harmoniously. The aesthetics, deliberately luxurious and scenographic, recall the Hollywood Regency language, reinterpreted through the elegance and artisanal quality of Italian decorative design. The pair can be prudently dated to the late 20th century. The Z187 model is documented also in Sigma L2 catalogs from later years; however, the construction and the natural aging visible in the internal and non-exposed parts of the present specimens are consistent with non-recent production. In the absence of dated labels, no more specific production year is stated. Conditions The wall lamps are presented in exceptional vintage condition, particularly well preserved. The brass parts maintain notable polishing and brightness, with an overall appearance very close to new. Only the longer central elements show minimal signs compatible with age and use, clearly visible in the photographs; on one of them there are also two very small micro-scratches. The four Swarovski crystal elements are in excellent condition, carefully checked: they show no chipping, cracks or scratches and preserve perfect transparency and brilliance. The original shades are also well preserved and fully usable. They show only in a couple of points very slight superficial tonal variations, barely perceptible and compatible with age and normal conservation of the fabric. Overall, considering the era and the originality of the components, the pair is in an exceptional state of preservation.
