Selwyn Senatori (Pallanza, Italy, 1973) is a Dutch-Italian artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied the program of illustrative design at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht. His background as an illustrator is reflected in the direct, narrative way he presents subjects in visual form. Senatori is considered part of neo-pop art. His main source of inspiration is la dolce vita: the good life, with good food, wine, music, film, design and his Italian roots as recurring themes. In his work, Italian verve and the Amsterdam city life come together. His paintings are characterized by a loose, expressive painting style, bold colors, and often handwritten texts. He primarily works with acrylic paint, but also uses chalk, pencil and spray paint, among others. His creativity is not limited to the canvas: objects such as champagne bottles, Vespa scooters and cars also serve as substrates. Although his work often appears exuberant and festive at first glance, behind that zest for life there is sometimes a more personal story. #ClassicalToContemporaryExclusive
