Large in-4 (approx. 34 × 26 cm), publisher’s hardcover with an illustrated photographic dust jacket, 111 pp., numerous full-page black-and-white photographs. ISBN 2-7324-2605-9 (EAN 9782732426051). French edition published in 2000, French translation by Jean-Luc Muller. The book was conceived and produced by Lélia Wanick Salgado. Published alongside the monumental *Exodes*, this book brings together 90 portraits of children whom Sebastião Salgado encountered during his extensive work documenting migration, displaced populations, and refugees around the world. Unlike *Exodes*, in which Salgado creates expansive documentary compositions, *Les Enfants de l’exode* relies almost entirely on frontal portraits. The children are isolated against backgrounds that are often neutral or dark and look directly at the camera. This formal unity gives the book a particular power and makes it a standalone photographic collection, rather than a mere complement to *Exodes*. The BnF has this French edition listed: Paris, La Martinière, 2000, 111 pages. A fine copy. The interior is in very fresh condition, and the photographs have good contrast. The hardcover is preserved in its original dust jacket. The dust jacket shows some slight signs of handling, minor scuffing, and minor imperfections on the top and bottom edges and at the corners, with no significant missing sections. Overall condition: good to very good.
