Far more than a decorative miniature, this highly detailed example features upholstered seat and back, padded armrests, articulated headrest, adjustable leg and foot support, and an intricate working metal framework replicating the movements of the full-size medical chair. Salesman’s samples of complex medical equipment were specialized demonstration pieces, and surviving examples of this size and mechanical detail are exceptionally uncommon today.
