Rolling Stones - Aftermath (UK) – 1st Mono Pressing –...

Superb original UK mono pressing of The Rolling Stones – Aftermath, released on Decca in 1966 under catalogue number LK 4786. The major collector feature of this copy is the extremely scarce original "Shadow Cover". On this early sleeve variation, the title AFTER-MATH on the front is printed with the distinctive purple shadow effect behind the lettering. This design was used only briefly before the artwork was altered, making surviving original Shadow Cover examples particularly desirable among serious Rolling Stones collectors. The record itself carries the classic red and silver unboxed Decca labels with deep groove, exactly the presentation associated with the early UK mono issues. Also complete with its original period inner sleeve. ⸻ Sleeve (EX): A particularly attractive example of the difficult-to-find Shadow Cover. The laminated front remains bright and impressive with only some slight laminate creasing, and the distinctive purple shadow artwork presents very strongly. The rear is also very clean overall, with just a small brown spot visible. Importantly, the spine remains very nice and well preserved. Finding this fragile laminated sleeve in such attractive condition is becoming increasingly difficult → EX Inner Sleeve: Original period inner sleeve included. Vinyl (VG / VG+ playback): The record retains a very nice original gloss but does show visible signs of play and surface wear, grading VG visually. Playback is considerably stronger than the visual appearance suggests and the record plays very nicely overall, deserving a VG+ playback grading → VG / VG+ audio ⸻ Details * UK 1st pressing * Mono * Decca LK 4786 * Original Shadow Cover variant * Red and silver unboxed Decca labels with deep groove * Original inner sleeve included ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * Side 1: XARL-7209-1B * Side 2: XARL-7210-5A
