Richard Ginori, Laveno - Plate (6) - Porcelain - Museum

SEI RARI VINTAGE LAVENO PLATES – POLYCHROME FLORAL DECORATION, COBALT BLUE AND GOLD – MUSEUM-LEVEL ELEGANCE – ITALIAN MANUFACTURE OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY Extraordinary set of 6 fine ceramic flat plates from the Italian manufactory Laveno, characterized by a decor of great refinement, ornamental richness, and remarkable aesthetic quality. An ensemble with museum charm, representative of the decorative taste of the great Italian ceramic tradition of the twentieth century, where classical suggestiones, eighteenth-century references, and a particularly refined ornamental sensibility coexist. THE DECOR – AN EXTRAORDINARILY ELEGANT COMPOSITION The decoration runs along the rim with a refined motif of festoons, scrolls and gold arabesques, alternated with deep blue fields featuring a distinctive geometric pattern of small scales. To further enrich the composition, delicate polychrome floral bouquets appear, with roses in shades of pink and purple, small red, blue and violet flowers, accompanied by slender botanical elements. The contrast between the luminous white of the surface, the deep blue, the gilding, and the liveliness of the flowers creates a chromatic balance of notable elegance. Particularly interesting is the rhythmic and symmetric arrangement of the decorative elements, which gives the plates a scenographic character without weighing down the composition. LAVENO AND THE GREAT GINORI TRADITION The mark on the back links the pieces to the Laveno manufactory, one of the most important entities in the history of Italian ceramics. The decorative language shows interesting stylistic affinities with those of the great historic manufactories, especially Richard Ginori, particularly for the use of ornamental borders, polychrome floral motifs, gilding, and compositions inspired by the eighteenth-century repertoire. The Ginori reference should be understood as an aesthetic and cultural comparison, not as an attribution of production. These plates bear witness to a conception of ceramics in which even an object destined for the table assumes a precise artistic and decorative dignity. ERA AND CHARACTERISTICS Italian 20th-century production, likely from the first half of the century, with exact dating to be explored through the mark. • Manufacturer: Laveno, Italy • Quantity: 6 flat plates • Diameter: about 20 cm • Material: fine glazed ceramic • Decoration: polychrome floral, blue border, scrolls and gilded finishes • Maker’s mark present on the back CONDITIONS Good overall condition, considering the age and nature of the items. There are signs of time and use, visible mainly on the surfaces and in some spots of the decorative finishes. Additionally noted is a small marginal chip, photographed, barely noticeable in the overall view, and not compromising the aesthetic and decorative beauty of the service. The natural patina of time helps bear witness to the vintage character and authenticity of the pieces. VERSATILITY AND USE The approximately 20 cm diameter makes these plates highly versatile. They can be used as appetizer, dessert, cake, fruit plates, small courses, or as elegant decorative elements. Also ideal for a refined table setting, for pairing with antique porcelains, crystal, and silverware, or to enrich a collection of historic Italian ceramics. A collection of great visual presence, particularly interesting for enthusiasts of Laveno, Richard Ginori, twentieth-century ceramics, and Italian decorative arts. 20 HASHTAGS
