René Lalique - “Swallows” - Gold-plated, Crystal - Necklace with pendant

Vintage necklace belonging to the "Hirondelles" collection by Lalique. In this version, a pair of delicately carved swallows is set in a single piece of colorless crystal with a slightly satin finish, atop a structure plated in 18 karat yellow gold. Swallows are graceful heralds of spring and messengers of good news. This motif of luck is used by René Lalique on numerous occasions in his work. Lalique is considered one of the world’s finest brands in glass and crystal production. By contrasting transparency and satin finish, the maximum expression of crystal purity is achieved, creating the so-called "Lalique effect", as widely recognized today and which can be appreciated in this necklace.
