Fabio Capello is a former Italian footballer and coach. He is regarded as one of the most prestigious managers of the 1990s and 2000s. 12 As a player (1964–1980), he played as an organizing midfielder. He was on four Italian clubs: SPAL, Roma, Juventus and Milan, winning four Scudetti and two Coppa Italia titles. He was capped by Italy (1972–1978), earning 32 appearances and 8 goals, and taking part in the 1974 World Cup. As a coach (1991–2018), he led four European clubs during his career. He began at Milan (1991–1996), with which he won, among other titles, four Scudetti and reached three consecutive European Cup/UEFA Champions League finals between 1993 and 1995, becoming European champion in 1994 after defeating Barcelona 4–0 in the final. In 1996 he joined Real Madrid, a club he coached in two spells, winning La Liga in both: 1996/97 and 2006/07 (30th title for the club). In his first spell with the Madrid club, he built a squad that, after his return to Milan, formed the basis of the team that conquered in the following three campaigns the “Seventh” and “Eighth” European Cup/UEFA Champions League. With Roma (1999–2004), he won the Scudetto in 2001, the club’s third and last to date in its history. At Juventus (2004–2006), he won two league titles that were later revoked from the “bianconeri.” As national team coach, he managed England (2008–2012), taking charge at the 2010 World Cup, and Russia (2012–2015), taking part in the 2014 World Cup. Finally, he ended his coaching career after a brief stint with Jiangsu Suning in China (2017–2018).
