Very rare ungrouped achondrite with a super fusion crust! Northwest Africa 17862 (NWA 17862) Weight: 10 g Purchased: May 2025 Tunisia The meteorite is composed predominantly of augite crystals almost iron-free (about 180% by volume), measuring up to 1.5 mm, with enstatite less abundant, present as single grains, lamellar exsolution and small inclusions in augite. The enstatite often peculiarly encloses the augite, which contains a few small siliceous glass inclusions rich in Si, Al. Accessories include daubréelite, alabandite and a Mn, Fe oxide phase. Classification: Ungrouped achondrite, Mg-rich). Probably related to Ksar Ghilane 022, Northwest Africa 15915 and Northwest Africa 13307.
