Brand: Rado Model: Voyager Movement: Automatic, Caliber 2798, 25 Jewels Dial: Silver sunburst with vertical day/date at 6 o'clock Case Size: 36 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1970s Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Timegrapher: -10-12s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The silver sunburst finish is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, showing no significant spotting or damage. Applied indices with black inserts correspond perfectly with the baton hands, which display minimal signs of oxidation. The dial is defined by the distinctive vertical English day and date window positioned at 6 o'clock, balanced by the rotating Rado logo below 12 o'clock. Case and Crystal The 36 mm stainless steel case features a brushed top surface that transitions into polished flanks. It exhibits honest vintage wear, with light surface scratches consistent with normal use, though the edges remain reasonably defined. The integrated polished bezel ring shows corresponding light wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, displaying minor surface scratches visible under certain lighting, while the knurled crown is correctly signed with the Rado anchor logo and shows normal wear. Movement The watch is powered by an automatic movement, clearly stamped as Caliber 2798 near the balance. The mechanism presents a clean overall appearance, featuring a signed rotor engraved with RADO, 25 JEWELS, and SWISS. The timegrapher records -10-12s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel link bracelet. It secures via a signed Rado clasp featuring the anchor logo and shows normal surface scratches and wear consistent with the case. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist size of 18cm. Condition Excellent vintage condition. The stainless steel case and original bracelet display honest vintage wear with light surface scratches, while retaining reasonably defined edges. The silver sunburst dial is beautifully preserved, and the domed acrylic crystal shows only minor surface marks. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result of -10-12s/day, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case size is 36 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks The symmetrical vertical day/date display and the presence of the original signed bracelet make this Voyager an appealing acquisition. It remains a distinctive and highly wearable example of 1970s mechanical design. History The Voyager line was a staple of Rado's catalog throughout the 1970s, recognized for housing dependable automatic movements within robust steel cases. The unusual vertical day/date configuration at 6 o'clock reflects the era's willingness to experiment with traditional dial layouts, providing a balanced aesthetic that differentiates it from standard calendar displays. Powered by the ETA-based Caliber 2798, this model exemplifies the solid mechanical watchmaking of the period. Payment and Shipping Payment must be completed within 1–3 days after purchase.
