R. Serra - Selva XL

Selva Selva represents the instinctive force of nature and the deep connection between human identity and the organic world. The female figure emerges among leafy shapes and lush flowers, blending into a landscape that seems to extend beyond the canvas borders. Her relaxed posture and direct gaze convey a mix of confidence, freedom, and mystery, as if she belongs to a universe where the wild and the human coexist in balance. The surrounding vegetation evokes a living, changing, energetic environment. Large red flowers, violet accents, and intense greens build a visual language that speaks of vitality, passion, and transformation. Nature here does not function as a simple backdrop, but as a symbolic extension of the protagonist: a reflection of her inner strength, spontaneity, and indomitable essence. The color palette, marked by the contrast between warm tones and the turquoise background, creates a vibrant, contemporary atmosphere. Broad brushstrokes, geometric forms, and expressive color contribute dynamism to the composition, conveying a sense of movement and freedom. The figure seems to inhabit her own space, detached from conventions and connected with a more intuitive way of experiencing the world. The title Selva alludes both to the exuberance of the landscape and to that inner territory we all carry within: a space of instincts, emotions, desires, and possibilities that do not always yield to domestication. The work invites us to reconcile with our most natural part, to accept our contradictions, and to recognize the beauty of what grows freely. More than a portrait, Selva is a celebration of authenticity and the freedom to be. An invitation to inhabit our own nature without fear of intensity, change, or anything that makes us different. Selva symbolizes the freedom to bloom without domestifying one’s essence: to live from instinct, embrace vitality, and find in our deepest nature a source of strength and authenticity. • Artist: R. Serra is a visual artist based in Spain whose practice centers on pictorial research and the mechanisms of image construction. His training in Plastic Arts, with a specialization in painting, along with later studies in graphic design, creates a language that places painting in dialogue with the aesthetics and visual logics of digital culture. His work investigates memory as a process of editing and reconstruction, where lived and imagined memories converge to generate images that challenge the stability of representation. Through painting, he explores the tensions between presence and absence, experience and fiction, proposing scenes suspended between the intimate and the universal. Over the last decade he has developed an exhibition trajectory that includes group shows in national and international galleries, consolidating his presence in the context of contemporary art.
