Precious Vintage Brooch With Natural Pearls & 2.16 ct of Diamonds, Dated 1971

This precious vintage brooch tells of this intimate connection, which we can decode through an engraving on the reverse. But first, let's describe the piece of jewellery: the brooch presents itself in a transverse almond shape and draws in its design on white jewels of the early 20th century, especially the so-called "shoulder pins" of Art Deco. Exquisitely equipped, it presents eight shimmering pearls and as many diamonds in alternation. The pearls are genuine natural pearls of wonderfully uniform colour and delicately melting luster. The diamonds are brilliant cut and have a fine white colour (G) with a total weight of 2.16 carats. Milgrain-embellished bezels that are open on the reverse hold them securely. This allows them to display their wonderful fire to the fullest. High-carat white gold frames the luxurious setting and harmoniously continues the colour scheme with its variations of white. On the back we see the engraving: "22nd VI 11-71 Mutti". We interpret the somewhat enigmatic inscription to mean that the brooch was presented to a mother born in 1911 on her 60th birthday on June 22, 1971. This explains the classic design and the anachronistic details such as milgrains and the use of natural pearls - cultured pearls had largely replaced them in the 1970s. Presumably, the natural pearls were set from an old piece of jewellery and found a secondary use here. Whether the mother wanted a piece of jewellery that reminded her of her youth in the golden 1920s? The high quality piece of jewellery that found its way to us from the Rhineland is beautifully preserved. An independent certificate has confirmed the excellent quality of its materials.
