Ca. 55 mm in diameter, ca. 106 g, 18K pink gold, No. 1951, extremely rare musical movement with barrel (barillet), cylinder escapement, quarter-hour repeater and music, playing automatically on the hour or on demand, particularly beautiful gold dial, two-tone enamelled, Breguet steel hands, movement intact and technically sound, case with minor dents. So-called ‘barillet-type’ musical watches are exceptionally rare and differ completely from the usual musical watches of that period. The musical movement is designed entirely differently, as it is a high-quality barrel movement which, due to its thickness, was unsuitable for pocket watches and was predominantly used in enamelled boxes. Only a few pocket watches with such a musical movement are known to exist and are highly sought-after collector’s items (https://www.cortrie.de/go/wVY).
