One of them is the famous image: Tsesarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich (1868–1918) at maneuvers near the village Bolshaya Verdada, 1893. The painting is located in the Moscow State Historical Museum. Many of Schipov's paintings were housed in Tsarskoye Selo at the headquarters and in the house of Tsar Nicholas II. (see Last Image). He studied at the Academy of Arts. He painted portraits of soldiers and observed them both in battles and in peacetime. He made pencil sketches and watercolor portraits.
