First edition of this important French treatise from the 19th century devoted to congenital and infantile syphilis. The work had won the gold medal at the Bordeaux competition, organized by the Société de médecine of this city, as indicated on the title page. The original edition of 1854 is also preserved in several important institutional medical collections. The work studies in particular detail the transmission of syphilis in the newborn and child: congenital and acquired syphilis, influence of the father and the mother, transmission during pregnancy, contamination during delivery or breastfeeding, symptomatology, diagnosis, prognosis and treatments. The second part describes in particular the various manifestations of the disease: chancres, buboes, mucosal plaques, skin lesions, pustules, bone, visceral and pulmonary involvement. The last part is devoted to therapy and prevention. 439 pages, the table of contents ends on page 439. The main text ends on page 434, followed by the final pages of the table. The digitized copies of the 1854 edition are also listed with 439 pages of text paginated.
