Original China Traditional Pure Silk on Silk Old - Rug...

Chinese Silk Rugs: Masterpieces of Far-East Weaving Art Chinese silk rugs are among the most exclusive and finest textiles in the world. They combine millennia-old tradition with the utmost craftsmanship and are renowned worldwide for their exceptional quality and elegance. The Material: Pure Luxury These rugs are made from pure natural silk. Using silk both for the pile and often for the warp (the backbone) enables an extremely high knot density. The result is an incredibly fine, almost pictorial depiction of the patterns and a surface that feels incomparably soft and supple. Distinctive Luster & Appearance A hallmark of Chinese silk rugs is their luster. The silk diffracts light in a unique way, causing the colors to shift depending on the viewing angle and light — sometimes they appear delicate and pastel, sometimes deep and radiant. Many of these rugs also feature a so-called relief cut (contour cut), where the motifs are carved to give them a three-dimensional depth.
