It is a historical collection that gathers numerous graphic and documentary testimonies linked to both the competition and the atmosphere of American athletics in the late seventies. Among the most notable elements are the program of the First Annual Orange Bowl Marathon 1977, documentation with the official results of the race, information about the route and maps, photographs of runners and the event, contemporary press clippings and different material related to the organization of the race. The lot also includes various vintage race bibs, among which Nike, Brooks and Palm Beach Runners examples can be observed, adding an extra appeal for collectors of running history and of major sports brands. An important part of the archive is kept organized in a binder album, with abundant press clippings, photographs and period documentation. The variety and provenance of the materials confer the set a strong sense of a personal archive, beyond a simple collection of sports memorabilia. The original photographs depict competition scenes, runners, finish lines and moments related to athletics of the era, constituting a visual testimony of the development of popular running and American marathons during the 1970s.
