Her lowered gaze contrasts with the almost sculptural richness of her attire. Behind her, the vertical handle of a sabre appears, discreetly introducing the image of the Japanese warrior without breaking the serenity of the portrait. The whole figure seems to have been shaped in white porcelain decorated with cobalt blue.
