onesuch Press.- Cervantès Saavedra (Miguel de) Don Quixote de La Mancha, 2 vol., limited edition, pochoir colour plates by E. McKnight Kauffer, the odd spot (mostly to fore-edge), else very clean, original brown morocco, covers faded with some spotting, lightly rubbed, 8vo, Nonesuch Press, [1930]. *** This edition is based on the 1743 seventh edition of the English translation by Peter Motteux, first published 1700-3. Motteux's translation was widely admired for its lucidity and wit throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. The illustrator, E. McKnight Kauffer, is best known for his modernist poster art, the style of which is visible in his illustrations here.
