Type of jewel: A pair of emerald and diamond cluster stud earrings. Condition: In well-preserved condition, especially given these earrings’ age. Style: Vintage floral design, with each central emerald framed by five diamonds in a petal-like arrangement. Era: Circa 1980. Material: 18K white gold, touchstone tested. Extra information: Fitted with posts and butterfly backs for pierced ears. Diamonds: Ten round brilliant-cut diamonds with an estimated combined weight of 0.60 ct (colour G–H; clarity VS–SI). Diamond weights, colour and clarity are approximate, as the stones were assessed in their settings and were not removed for grading or weighing. All diamonds in these earrings were individually tested with the Magilabs' EXA Natural Diamond Detector and identified as natural diamonds. Gemstones: Two natural round-cut emeralds with an estimated combined weight of 0.30 ct. It is common practice for gemstones to be treated in order to improve their colour or clarity. The emeralds have not been tested for such treatments. Gemstone weights are approximate, as the stones were assessed in their settings and were not removed for weighing. Traditional gemstone associations: Emerald is traditionally associated with May, and diamond with April. Hallmarks: No traces of hallmarks.
