Khotan’s oasis location encouraged the blending of Chinese Buddhist imagery, Central Asian geometry, and Persian-derived floral ornament into a recognizable regional style. The compact format makes this example especially suitable for display as a collectible textile, where the character of its drawing and subtle color relationships may be appreciated at close range. Its size also distinguishes it from the long gallery-format carpets more commonly associated with Khotan production. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #419 is in fair condition.
