New Boston stands as Texarkana's overshadowed counterpart in several ways and even in numismatic terms. Served by two National Banks rather than the six that served both sides of the stateline in Texarkana, New Boston is represented by only 17 non-institutional notes in the National Bank Note Census. The bulk of those notes are nonetheless recorded on First National Bank (Charter# 5636) with 15 non-institutional pieces, but this is clearly immaterial to local collectors. Time and time again, bidders engage in a frenzied bidding process when any National Bank Note from New Boston appears in an auction context and should soon carry this well-circulated T2 $5 to a rather respectable realization.
