Netherlands. Proof Set 2024 "Inclusief penning Lucht" (No reserve price)

etherlands As carriers of culture and means of communication, coins function as a kind of time capsules. The Year Sets Netherlands 2024 are therefore linked to (inter)national and personal milestones of this year. Moreover, from 2022 to 2025 the Year Sets from the National Collection are themed around the four elements: earth, water, air and fire. The elements are, after all, connected to the seasons that determine our yearly rhythm. This year the series continues with the element ‘Air’. Year Set with a unique coin The Year Sets Netherlands 2024 in Proof quality are themed around the element air. Air is one of the elements that form the basis of our existence. Thanks to air can humans, but also flora and fauna on Earth, stay alive. This indispensable element is at the same time the most elusive: we cannot always see air, but it is all around us. The Year Set Netherlands 2024 Proof-quality comes this year with a new coin, which is also entirely dedicated to the element air. The obverse of the coin features a special design that symbolizes the element air: a hot air balloon drifts through the clouds. For the first time the reverse of the coin features a design, whereas in previous years it had always been kept blank. At the bottom a clouded sky is visible. In the middle birds fly through the air, while in the background a sun is visible. In the upper right corner is the text ‘Year Set 2024’. Proof quality The euro coins in the set are minted in Proof quality, the very highest quality a coin can have. On Proof coins several techniques have been applied that improve the quality of the coin, including the use of polished planchets and dies. This makes the relief stand out more clearly against the background. Proof coins are struck one by one, only handled with gloves, and are packed in capsules to prevent damage.
