etherlands. 2017. Six medals – Royal stained-glass windows of Orange-Nassau, Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam – silver-plated copper, 50 mm – with certificates Six different medals from Edel Collecties’ “De Koninklijke Kerkramen van Oranje-Nassau” series, reproducing figures from the 1898 inauguration window in the Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam. Each medal contains a translucent coloured glass insert. When held against the light or illuminated from behind, the colours brighten and the figures become clearly visible, recreating the effect of sunlight passing through a stained-glass church window. The photographs demonstrate this effect; against a dark background, the glass appears considerably darker. Contents Maurits, Prince of Orange, 1567–1625. Louise de Coligny, wife of William of Orange, 1555–1620. King Willem II, 1792–1849. Amalia van Solms, 1602–1675. Frederik Hendrik, Prince of Orange, 1584–1647. Willem Lodewijk of Nassau, 1560–1620. Obverses Each historical figure appears within a pointed Gothic window of coloured glass. Surrounding designs show the Nieuwe Kerk and decorative railings, with the figure’s name and dates. Inscriptions include “Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam” and “1898 Inhuldigingsraam”. Common reverse The glass insert is visible from both sides. Heraldic shields flank the window, surrounded by “Koninkrijk der Nederlanden” and “Je maintiendrai”. Specifications, according to the accompanying certificates Quantity: 6 different medals.
