Patent for the service year 1846-1847 Municipality of Amsterdam on handmade paper rare. Signed by Hendricks en Kuinders Hendrichs, Kuinders & Co. (often written as Hendricks en Kuinders) was a well-known Amsterdam trading firm and shipping company in the 19th century. Around the year 1846 the firm was involved in several trading activities: • Import and trade: the firm was registered as an importer of haberdashery, trinkets, jewelry and silver and gold works. In addition, according to cargo lists from September 1846, they traded in goods such as coffee. • Shipping and Shipping company: Besides the goods trade, the firm acted as bookkeeper and (co-)owner of several large sea vessels (such as the three-masted frigate Het Goede Vertrouwen and other merchant ships) that operated between Amsterdam and overseas regions.
